Der Pomahaka River ist ein Fluss in South Otago auf der Südinsel Neuseelands. Er ist ein rechter Nebenfluss des Clutha River und fließt von der Old Man Range für 80 km nach Süden, um bei Pukeawa, 20 km nordwestlich von Balclutha, in den Clutha zu münden. Auf seinem Weg passiert er die Blue Mountains und die Forststadt Tapanui in der von den Bewohnern als West Otago bezeichneten Region.

Für eine kurze Strecke bildet der Fluss die Grenze zwischen den Regionen Otago und Southland.

Ein schweres Hochwasser des Pomahaka im Jahre 1978 verursachte Schäden, die zur Schließung der Tapanui-Zweigbahn führten. Ein weiteres schweres Hochwasser führte 1980 zur Umsiedlung des Ortes Kelso.

Orte am Fluss sind Kelso, Tapanui, Glenkenich, Pomahaka und Rankleburn.

Ein rechter Nebenfluss ist der Wairuna Stream, linke Nebenflüsse sind Rankle Burn, Back Stream und Washpool Stream.
