Radio Damascus

Radio Damaskus ist der Auslandshörfunksender der staatlichen syrischen Rundfunkgesellschaft SRT.

Radio Damaskus sendet seit 1957 auch deutschsprachige Programme. Die Sendungen wurden damals jedoch nur über Mittelwelle ausgestrahlt und waren so offenbar für Hörer in der Region, möglicherweise die deutschsprachigen Einwanderer in Israel, bestimmt. 1968 begann eine Ausstrahlung auch der deutschsprachigen Sendungen über Kurzwelle. Zurzeit sendet Radio Damaskus neben einer täglichen, einstündigen Sendung auf Deutsch auch in arabischer, englischer, französischer, spanischer, russischer und türkischer Sprache. Einige Sendungen werden auch über einen der Hot Bird-Satelliten (13°) ausgestrahlt.
