Ratnapura (Sinhala: „Stadt der Juwelen“) ist die Hauptstadt der Provinz Sabaragamuwa in Sri Lanka. Es liegt zwischen den südlichen Ebenen und dem den Bergen im Osten am Ufer des Flusses Kalu. Von hier führt einer der Pilgerwege zum Sri Pada. In der Umgebung ist der Sinharaja, der letzte verbliebene Regenwald auf der Insel. Ratnapura ist das wichtigste Zentrum für Edelsteine in Sri Lanka. Es werden überwiegend Rubine, Saphire und Katzenaugen (eine Varianz des Chrysoberylls) abgebaut. In der Gegend von Ratnapura werden Reis, Früchte und Tee angebaut.

In der Nähe der Stadt befindet sich der Udawalawe-Nationalpark.

Im Jahre 1901 wurde eine Bevölkerung von 4.084, 1981 von 37.497 und 2001 von 46.309 Einwohnern angegeben.
