Ribonucleoprotein

Ribonucleoproteine (RNP) sind Proteinkomplexe, die RNAs enthalten. Solche Komplexe sind beispielsweise die Ribosomen-Untereinheiten, das Spliceosom, die holo-Telomerase und verschiedene Translations-Initiationsfaktoren, die alle im Zellkern lokalisiert sind. Sie kommen in allen Lebewesen vor. Ein weiteres Beispiel für solche Komplexe ist etwa der RNA Induced Silencing Complex (RISC), der beim RNA silencing an die doppelsträngige siRNA bindet, einen der beiden Stränge abbaut und anschließend an eine Ziel-Sequenz RNA (target-RNA) bindet und diese abbaut.
