Riot Act

Der riot act ist ein 1714 in Großbritannien erlassenes Gesetz, wonach Versammlungen unter freiem Himmel binnen einer Stunde als ungesetzlich erklärt werden können und jeder, der die Versammlung dann nicht verlässt, mit dem Tode bestraft werden kann. In Großbritannien wurde das Gesetz 1973 aufgehoben, in den ehemaligen Kolonien gilt es teilweise, in leicht abgewandelter Form, noch heute.

Zuletzt wurde es bei den Unruhen in Belize 2005 am 21. Januar angewandt.
