SATCOM

SATCOMBw heißt das satellitengestützte Kommunikationssystem der Bundeswehr. Es besteht aus zwei Kommunikationssatelliten (SATCOMBw-2a und SATCOMBw-2b), die voraussichtlich 2009 auf eine geostationäre Umlaufbahn geschossen werden. Die Satelliten werden von Bodenstationen der Bundeswehr und des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V (DLR) betrieben.

Die von Alcatel Alenia Space gebauten jeweils ca. 2500 kg wiegende Satelliten, die auf dem SpaceBus 3000 basieren, werden von Arianespace vom europäischen Weltraumbahnhof Centre Spatial Guyanais in Kourou (Französisch-Guyana) aus gestartet [1]. Im Jahr 2009 soll das System einsatzbereit sein.

Federführender Auftragnehmer des Projektes ist die neu gegründete Projektgesellschaft MilSat Services GmbH mit Sitz in Bremen, eine von EADS Space Services und ND SatCom gegründete Firma.

Am 5. Juli 2006 haben das IT-Amt der Bundeswehr als Auftraggeber und MilSat Services den Hauptvertrag unterschrieben. Mit der Verkündung des Bundeshaushaltsgesetzes 2006 trat der Vertrag in Kraft.

Wichtige Unterauftragnehmer sind EADS Astrium, die für das gesamte Raumsegment und dessen Bereitstellung im Orbit verantwortlich ist, das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DLR) als Betreiber der Satellitenkonstellation, Arianespace als Betreiber der Trägerrakete, Alcatel Alenia Space als Lieferant der Satelliten sowie Intelsat, die zusätzlich kommerzielle Übertragungskapazitäten zur Verfügung stellen werden.

Geschichte und Zukunft des Systems

Vorläufer waren das TriMilSat (mit Frankreich und Großbritannien, 1990-1997) und das MilSatCom (mit Frankreich, 1997-1999). Während SATCOMBw Stufe 0 und SATCOMBw Stufe 1 auf angemieteten Satellitenverbindungen basiert, bindet das neue System SATCOMBw Stufe 2 zwei eigene militärische Satelliten (jeweils einen für die östliche und westliche Interessenhemisphäre) ein. Darüber hinaus beinhaltet die Stufe 2 eine Erweiterung des Bodensegmentes, insbesondere die Errichtung einer neuen Kontroll- und Ankerstation auf dem Gelände der Bodenstation Weilheim des Deutschen Raumfahrtkontrollzentrums, den Ausbau der vorhandenen Bodenstationen in Kastellaun und Gerolstein sowie die Lieferung zahlreicher transportabler Einheiten für In- und Auslandseinsätze. Bis 2009 soll das System fertiggestellt sein, die Kosten dafür liegen bei rund 950 Mio EUR.
