Supercard

SuperCard ist eine Mac OS Entwicklungsumgebung von der US-amerikanischen Firma Solutions Etcetera. SuperCard beruht auf dem Karteikartenprinzip (engl.: stack), das bereits bei Apples Entwicklerwerkzeug HyperCard Anwendung fand. Informationen in Form von Textdaten, Bildern, Filmen oder Audiodateien können mit Hilfe von SuperCard dargestellt und verwaltet werden. Somit kann SuperCard als Datenbankanwendung und Multimediawerkzeug, aber auch als Entwicklungsumgebung für Software-Prototypen eingesetzt werden.

Befehle und Funktionen innerhalb von SuperCard werden durch eine so genannte Skriptsprache ausgedrückt, dem SuperTalk. Diese Skriptsprache zählt zu der Familie der objektorientierten Sprachen der 4. Generation (4GL = Fourth Generation Language). Dort wiederum zählt sie zu den Interpreter-, Skript- oder auch Makrosprachen. Hierzu zählen u.a. auch HyperTalk, RealBasic, TranScript, AppleScript und weitere MetaTalk- bzw. xTalk-Dialekte.

Im Gegensatz zu HyperCard ist SuperCard der Sprung in Apples neues Betriebssystem Mac OS X gelungen. Es läuft sowohl auf MacOS 9 als auch auf OS X.
