Taibu

Der Lóis (auch Loes oder Lóes) ist mit 80 km der längste Fluss Osttimors. Neben dem Nördlichen Lacló ist er einer der wenigen Flüsse, die im Nordteil der Insel ganzjährig Wasser führen, da sie aus dem Süden gespeist werden. In seinem oberen Lauf wird der Fluss auch Bancama, in seinem mittleren Lauf Taibu und Bêba genannt.

Der Lóis entspringt in den Bergen von Fatumean, fließt nach Nordwesten und Norden und schwenkt kurz vor der Mündung nach Westen, wo er die Grenze zwischen den Distrikten Liquiçá und Bobonaro bildet. An der Nordküste mündet er 20 km südwestlich von Maubara. Der Lóis hat mehrere nennenswerte Zuflüsse: Der Marobo entspringt nahe dem Ort Marobo (Ermera) und fließt an der Grenze von Ermera und Bobonaro in den Lóis. Der Lauela (Lau-Ili), der im Subdistrikt Ermera nahe Salvi in einer Höhe von 1.320 m entspringt, kommt aus dem Osten zum Lóis. Von Süden kommt der Nunura (Bé-Bai, Larodel), der im indonesischen Westtimor entspringt. In ihn mündet vorher, wo Bobonaros Subdistrikte Maliana, Atabae und Cailaco aufeinander treffen, aus Maliana kommend, der Bulobo.
