The Illegal Alien

Peter-Paul Pigmans (* 31. Januar 1961 in den Niederlanden; † 27. August 2003) war unter dem Pseudonym 3 Steps Ahead einer der bekanntesten Vertreter der Gabber-Szene. Seine Veröffentlichungen fanden schon auf den allerersten Thunderdome-Samplern Platz, der wohl bekanntesten Hardcore-Techno-Sammlung.

Leben

Durch einen Freund und späteren Kollegen Rob Fabrie (alias DJ Waxweazle / The Headbanger) kam er zur Musik, wurde durch den Vormarsch des dort aufkommenden Musikstils Hardcore Techno beeinflusst und gründete 1994 3 Steps Ahead. Noch im selben Jahr veröffentlichte er seine erste Platte mit dem Namen "Step 1" auf Step-Records, einem von Pigmans gegründeten Sub-Label des renommierten Hardcore-Labels ID&T. Noch im gleichen Jahr gab es zwei weitere Veröffentlichungen. Im Laufe der Jahre produzierte er an die 20 Platten, mitunter auch ein Album (Most Wanted And Mad) und ein Doppelalbum (Junkie 4 Life). Auf späteren Platten trat er unter dem Namen "The Ender" auf, benannt nach seinem Sohn Ender Pigmans.

Peter-Paul starb am 27. August 2003 an den Folgen von Krebs, nachdem er 4 Jahre dagegen gekämpft hatte. Nach seinem Tod widmeten ihm Drokz vs. TAFKAT und Promo die Tracks „Dedicated 2 3SA“ und „hear This Cry (Dedicated To PPP)“.
