The Twins sind eine deutsche Synthie Pop-Band der 1980er-Jahre.

Die Gruppe wurde 1980 in West-Berlin von Sven Dohrow (* 1957) und Ronny Schreinzer (* 1958) gegründet. Die beiden Musiker sind nicht miteinander verwandt, der Name soll im Sinne von „Zwei-Mann-Firma“ verstanden werden. Musikalisch orientierten sie sich an britischen Bands wie Gary Numans Tubeway Army, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark oder den frühen Depeche Mode.

Einen ersten Achtungserfolg hatten sie mit ihrer ersten Singleveröffentlichung The Desert Place, die in Deutschland zum Hit in Diskotheken wurde und den Sprung in die US-Billboard-Dance-Charts schaffte.

Den großen Durchbruch erlebten die Twins in Italien, wo sie innerhalb von 18 Monaten drei Top-Ten-Hits landeten (Face to Face – Heart to Heart im Jahr 1983 auf Platz fünf, Not the Loving Kind auf Platz neun und ein Jahr später Ballet Dancer auf Platz drei).

Die Single Ballet Dancer wurde ihr erster Charterfolg in Deutschland. Im Jahr 2003 landete die deutsche Band Master Blaster mit einer Coverversion des Songs unter den Top 50.

Weitere bekannte Titel der Gruppe waren Love System, Love in the Dark und Tonight.
