The Wiseguys ist eine 1994 gegründete britische Hip-Hop-Band.

Geschichte

Die Band The Wiseguys (vom englischen wise guy für Besserwisser oder Schlaumeier) wurde 1994 von Theo Keating alias DJ Touché zusammen mit Paul Eve alias DJ Regal gegründet. Keating ist in England ein erfolgreicher underground-electro- Produzent und brachte wesentliche Einflüsse in die Big-Beat-Szene.

Karriere

The Wiseguys veröffentlichten zunächst die Stücke The Paddle und Command Me. 1996 erschien ihr erstes Album Executive Suite.

Der Durchbruch gelang der Band 1999 mit dem Album The Antidote, auf dem sich der Song Start the Commotion befindet, der in einem US-amerikanischen Werbespot von Mitsubishi verwendet wurde. Die Auskopplung Ooh La La landete in Großbritannien auf Platz 2 der Single-Charts.
