Turnover (Basketball)

Turnover bezeichnet im Basketball den Ballverlust der im Ballbesitz befindlichen Mannschaft. Keinen Eingang in die Wertung der Turnovers haben Wurfversuche, solange sie ohne Regelüberschreitung stattfinden. Statt dessen werden technische Fehler wie Doppel-Dribble (gleichzeitige Ballberührung mit beiden Händen bei fortgesetztem Dribbling), Schrittfehler (Bewegung des Balles ohne Dribbling), Schaufeln (Berührung des Balles an der Unterseite während des Dribblings) sowie Ballverlust durch Steal der gegnerischen Mannschaft, Fehlpass, Bewegung des Balles außerhalb der Spielfeldgrenzen inklusive Rückspiel, Offensiv-Fouls, Offensiv-Goaltending (regelwidrige Ring- oder Korbberührung bzw. -beeinflussung eines Angreifers beim Wurfversuch der eigenen Mannschaft) und Überschreitung jeweiliger Angriffszeiten (drei, fünf, acht und 24 Sekunden) gewertet.

Der Turnover wird beim Spieler der ballführenden Mannschaft gewertet, der zuletzt im Ballbesitz war. Ausnahme von dieser Regel sind Offensiv-Goaltending und Verletzung der Drei-Sekunden-Regel. Im Einzelfall kann ein Turnover auch der angreifenden Mannschaft allgemein zugeschrieben werden, wenn die Regelübertretung einem einzelnen Spieler nicht eindeutig zuzuordnen ist – ein Beispiel hierfür ist, wenn der Schiedsrichter den Ball beim Einwurf freigibt, aber kein Spieler da ist, um den Ball innerhalb der nächsten fünf Sekunden ins Spiel zu bringen. Der Turnover-Wert ist auch Bestandteil der Effektivitäts-Wertung im Basketball.
