Beispiel für eine Uvala: Der Talkessel des Funtensees

Uvalas sind große, unregelmäßige, zusammenhängende Hohlformen in Karstgebieten. Da Karstprozesse sehr langsam ablaufen, ist auch die Entstehung von Uvalas ein langer Prozess. Sie gehen auf die Entstehung von Dolinen zurück. Wenn Dolinen sich durch seitlich fortschreitende Subrosion bzw. Suffosion ausweiten, können benachbarte Dolinen zu Uvalas zusammenwachsen. In der Natur sehen Uvalas oft wie eine Anordnung von Schüsseln im Boden aus.

Ein Beispiel ist das Uvala des Funtensees.
