Very low power

VLP ist eine Amateurfunk-Abkürzung für very low power. Es wird entweder als Kürzel in Telegrafie gegeben oder einem Amateurfunk-Rufzeichen angehängt. Zum Beispiel DL1KSW/VLP soll dem Funkpartner mitteilen, dass der Sender mit maximal 1 Watt Ausgangsleistung die Hochfrequenz über die Antenne abstrahlt. Es finden Wettbewerbe statt, bei denen es darum geht, mit dieser geringen Leistung weite Entfernungen zu anderen Funkpartnern zu überbrücken. Die Leistungsgrenze ist dabei von der Ausschreibung des Wettbewerbs abhängig. Meist wird so auch QRP-Betrieb gekennzeichnet.
