Das Worcester Art Museum ist ein Kunstmuseum in Worcester in Massachusetts.

Geschichte

Das Museum wurde von dem reichen Senator Stephen Salisbury III gegründet und 1898 eröffnet. 1901 erhielt das Museum über 3000 japanische Druckgrafiken von Bancroft Davis. Mithilfe des ersten professionellen Direktors, Philip J. Gentner, gelang es, die Sammlung des Museums zu einer der angesehensten im ganzen Land zu machen. Derzeitiger Direktor ist James A. Welu.

Werke

Das Worcester Art Museum beherbergt heute bereits über 35.000 Werke aus vielen verschiedenen Epochen und Kulturen. Zu den berühmtesten Ausstellungsstücken gehören El Greco von Rembrandt van Rijn und The Brooding Woman von Paul Gauguin.
