Die Yunga (aus Quechua Yunka, „Gebiet mit ungesundem, heiß-feuchtem Klima"; auch Yunca) ist eine Höhenstufe beiderseits der Anden von ca. 500 bis 2300 m Höhe über dem Meeresspiegel (nach Javier Pulgar Vidal).

In der Yunga gibt es viele enge Täler und steile, vegetationslose Abhänge. Das Klima ist sehr heiß. In der westlichen Yunga zur Küste hin (yunga costal) ist es nur wenig feucht, während die östliche Yunga zum Amazonasbecken hin (yunga fluvial), die weithin von Wäldern bedeckt ist, eine hohe relative Luftfeuchtigkeit und starke Niederschläge aufweist.

Die Talgründe der Yunga sind sehr fruchtbar. Einige wichtige einheimische Nutzpflanzen der Yunga sind Peruanischer Pfefferbaum (molle bzw. Quechua mulli), Avocado (Quechua palta), Lucuma, Chirimoya und Guave (sawintu). Des Weiteren werden eingebürgerte Pflanzen angebaut, darunter Pflaume, Zitrusfrüchte und Zuckerrohr.

Zwei häufige einheimische Vögel sind Spottdrossel (Quechua chawkatu) und Taurigaray (tawriqaray, „Gib mir Lupinensamen!").
