Birendranagar

Birendranagar (Nepali: वीरेन्द्नगर Bīrendranagar, meistens als Surkhet bezeichnet) ist Hauptort des Surkhet Distrikts im westlichen Nepal. Vom Terai nur durch eine niedrige Hügelkette getrennt wurde er schon relativ früh in den 1970ern an das Straßennetz angeschlossen und zu einem regionalen Verwaltungs- und Industriezentrum aufgebaut.

In der näheren Umgebung Birendranagars befinden sich Überreste eines buddhistischen Heiligtums.
