Anna Morandi Manzolini (* 1714; † 1774) war eine italienische Bildhauerin und Anatomin, Dozentin für Anatomie an der Universität Bologna; sie realisierte anatomische Wachsmodelle. Nach ihr ist der Einschlagkrater Manzolini auf der Oberfläche der Venus benannt.

Biografie

Im Jahr 1740 heiratete sie Giovanni Manzolini[1], Professor der Anatomie in Bologna. Als ihr Mann an Tuberkulose erkrankte, erhielt Morandi die Sondererlaubnis, an seiner Stelle zu unterrichten. Danach wurde sie Professor für Anatomie bis zum Tod ihres Mannes im Jahre 1755.

Ihr Ruf als Produzentin anatomischer Modelle verbreitete sich in ganz Europa: Anna Morandi wurde von Zarin Katharina II. von Russland und an andere europäische Höfe eingeladen.

Kunstgegenstände

Manzolini schuf auch Büsten in Wachs zu künstlerischen Zwecken. Zwei sind im Palazzo Poggi in Bologna ausgestellt: Die eine ist ein Selbstbildnis, in dem man sie bei der Arbeit während des Sezierens eines menschlichen Gehirns sieht, die andere porträtiert ihren Mann bei einer ähnlichen Aktivität.[2]

Man nimmt auch an, dass auf sie, eher als auf ihren Mann, das Mannesporträt in farbigem Wachs zurückzuführen ist, das heute im Victoria and Albert Museum in London ausgestellt ist.[1]
