Association of African Universities

Die Association of African Universities (kurz AAU), deutsch Vereinigung der Universitäten Afrikas, ist eine internationale Dachorganisation auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent mit Sitz in Accra. Sie dient der Kooperation, Konsultation und gegenseitigen Information aller Institutionen für Hochschulbildung in Afrika. Die Organisation wurde am 12. November 1967 in Rabat, der Hauptstadt Marokkos, auf der Basis einer UNESCO-Empfehlung aus dem Jahre 1962 gegründet.

Die AAU hat mit dem Stand vom Oktober 2011 insgesamt 268 Mitgliedsinstitutionen aus 46 afrikanischen Staaten.[1]
