David Chariandy

David Chariandy (* 1969) ist ein kanadischer Autor. Sein 2007 erschienener Debütroman Soucouyant (in der deutschen Übersetzung "Der karibische Dämon") erhielt mehrere Auszeichnungen und war für verschiedene Literaturpreise nominiert. Darunter war Kanadas wichtigster Buchpreis, der Governor General's Award for Fiction sowie der International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, der Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Book und andere. Außerdem gründete Chariandy 2006 gemeinsam mit Wayde Compton und Karina Vernon den ersten afrokanadischen Verlag unter dem Namen Commodore Books.

Chariandy lebt im kanadischen Vancouver und unterrichtet Literatur an der Simon Fraser University.
