Cuverville Island, auch Île de Cavelier de Cuverville genannt, ist eine felsige Insel vor der Westküste des Grahamlands im Norden der Antarktischen Halbinsel. Sie liegt im Errera Channel 1,9 km westlich der Arctowski Halbinsel und 500 Meter östlich des Nordteils von Rongé Island.

Geschichte

Cuverville Island wurde von den belgischen Belgica-Expedition (1897 - 1899) unter Adrien de Gerlache de Gomery entdeckt und nach dem Vizeadmiral der Französischen Marine und katholischen Politiker Jules de Cuverville benannt.

Nutzung

Cuverville Island ist unbewohnt. Im antarktischen Sommer ist sie häufig der Brutplatz einer großen Kolonie von Eselspinguinen (engl.: Gentoo Penguins) und wird von Kreuzfahrtschiffen besucht.
