Digital Engineering

Unter Digital Engineering versteht man die Unterstützung von Entwicklungsprozessen mit Hilfe digitaler Methoden.

Es bezeichnet die durchgängige Nutzung digitaler Methoden und Werkzeuge beim Produktentstehungs- und Produktionsprozess, welche auf eine verbesserte Planungsqualität sowie auf die Prozessbeherrschung über den gesamten Produktlebenszyklus abzielt. Es ist daher die konsequente Fortsetzung und Erweiterung des Virtual Engineering.[1] Als erste deutsche Universität führte die Otto-von-Guericke-Universität in Magdeburg einen speziellen Masterstudiengang für Digital Engineering ein[2].
