Executive Summary

Die Executive Summary ist eine einem Geschäftsplan vorausgestellte Kurzbeschreibung der Geschäftsidee, der Organisation des geplanten Unternehmens, der Marktsituation, der Markteintrittsstrategie sowie der geplanten Finanzierung, die dem eiligen Leser eine Zusammenfassung der wesentlichen Inhalte des Geschäftsplans verdichtet wiedergibt.[1] Der Begriff lässt sich im Deutschen in etwa als „Managementzusammenfassung“ übersetzen; das englische Lehnwort ist allerdings gebräuchlicher. Die Executive Summary hat in erster Linie die Aufgabe, bei einem (Risiko)kapitalgeber das Interesse für den Geschäftsplan und das zugrundeliegende Geschäftsmodell zu wecken und ist damit einer der wichtigsten Abschnitte des Geschäftsplans. Die Executive Summary erfüllt in schriftlicher Form die gleiche Funktion wie der sog. (mündliche) Elevator Pitch.
