Fertigation bezeichnet das Ausbringen von flüssigen oder wasserlöslichen Düngern durch ein Bewässerungssystem. Es ist ein Kunstwort aus den englischen Wörtern fertilization (Düngung) und irrigation (Bewässerung)[1]

Besonders wassersparend ist Fertigation mittels Tropfbewässerung (auch Tröpfchenbewässerung genannt). Dies führt zu einer definierten Bewässerungs-und Düngezone direkt im Wurzelbereich der Pflanze. Aufgrund der Trockenheit im Jahr 2010 sind Fertigation und Tröpfchenbewässerung vieldiskutierte Methoden, um den Kartoffelertrag abzusichern. [2]


Aufgrund der hohen Kosten und des Arbeitsaufwandes ist die Fertigation vor allem bei hochpreisigen Produkten wie Blaubeeren, Kirschen oder Erdbeeren gängig.
