Food Force

Food Force ist ein Lernspiel, das vom Welternährungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen WFP 2005 veröffentlicht wurde. Seinem Inhalt nach ist es ein "Serious Game" (Spiel mit einem Lernhintergrund). Spieler starten Missionen, um Nahrung in einem vom Hunger betroffenen Land zu verteilen und helfen ihm, sich zu erholen und wieder mit eigener Kraft zu agieren. Gleichzeitig lernen sie die Thematik des Hungers in der echten Welt kennen und die Arbeit des WFP, diesen zu verhindern.

Gameplay

Das Spiel findet auf der fiktiven Insel Sheylan im Indischen Ozean statt, das unter Dürre und Bürgerkrieg leidet. Der Spieler ist ein neu in einem Team von UN-Experten, darunter eine Ernährungsberaterin, ein Logistik-Offizier, ein Pilot, und der Direktor der Lebensmittel-Einkauf.

Das Spiel enthält sechs Missionen:

  • Luft-Überwachung: Auffinden hungrig Bürger in einem Hubschrauber
  • Ernährungspakete: Erstellen einer ausgewogenen Ernährung von Reis, Öl, Bohnen, Zucker und Salz mit einem Budget von nur 30 Cent pro Tag
  • Abwürfe aus der Luft: Abwürfe von Nahrungsmitteln in einer Ziel-Zone, mit Einschätzung der Windrichtung
  • Einkauf und Versand: Koordinierung der Lieferungen von gekauften und gespendeten Lebensmitteln aus der ganzen Welt
  • Essen verteilen: Führen Sie einen Lebensmittel-Konvoi zu einem Depot, wobei es auf dem Weg Gefahren wie Landminen und Straßensperren gibt
  • Die Zukunft der Landwirtschaft: Durch Nahrungsmittelhilfe, um ein Dorf über 10 Jahre zu entwickeln, durch Investitionen, Schulung, "Nahrung für Arbeit" und der Behandlung von HIV/AIDS

Die meisten Missionen des arcadeorientierten Gameplays sind zeitlich begrenzt. Alle sechs Missionen können in weniger als einer Stunde gespielt werden. Spieler können die Punktzahl ihrer Spiele hochladen und online mit anderen Spielern vergleichen.

Verfügbarkeit

Das Spiel ist frei erhältlich in Versionen für Windows und Macintosh. Linux-Anwender können es mit Wine installieren. Entwickelt wurde das Spiel vom britischen Studio Playerthree und der italienischen Firma Deepend. Das Programm nutzt Macromedia für das Spiel und QuickTime für die Videos.

Die Website des Spiels hat auch Tafelbilder für Lehrer, Berichte über die jüngsten WFP-Arbeit, eine High-Score-Tabelle und andere Funktionen.

Food Force 2

Food Force 2, auf der Grundlage von Food Force, wird als freie Software unter den Bedingungen der Version 3 der GNU General Public License in der Programmiersprache Python entwickelt und läuft somit auf Plattformen einschließlich der One Laptop Per Child XO und der Sugar desktop environment.[1] Food Force 2 steht derzeit in der Beta-Version zum Download zur Verfügung für Linux-und Windows-Plattformen.
