HMS Dublin

Vier Schiffe im Dienst der britischen Royal Navy erhielten den Namen HMS Dublin nach der irischen Stadt Dublin:

  • Die erste HMS Dublin war eine 10-Kanonen-Yacht, 1707 vom Stapel lief und 1752 abgebrochen wurde.
  • Eine weitere 10-Kanonen-Yacht sollte den Namen HMS Dublin erhalten. Schon vor ihrem Stapellauf 1753 wurde der Neubau in HMS Dorset umbenannt. Das Schiff wurde 1815 verkauft.
  • Die zweite HMS Dublin war das Klassenschiff einer Serie von sieben 74-Kanonen-Linienschiffen der 3.Klasse. Sie lief 1757 vom Stapel und wurde schon 1784 abgebrochen.
  • Die dritte HMS Dublin war auch ein 74-Kanonen-Linienschiffen der 3.Klasse, das 1812 von Stapel lief. 1826 wurde die Bewaffnung auf 50 Kanonen reduziert. 1835 bis 1838 und 1841 bis 1845 war sie das Flaggschiff der britischen Südamerika-, ab 1837 Pazifik-Station. 1845 wurde sie Hafenschiff in Plymouth und 1885 erfolgte der Abbruch.
  • Die vierte HMS Dublin war ein leichter Kreuzer der Town-Klasse, die 1912 vom Stapel lief und 1926 zum Abbruch verkauft wurde.
