Die International Association for Feminist Economics, häufig abgekürzt mit IAFFE, ist eine internationale Vereinigung von Wirtschaftswissenschaftlern mit dem Ziel eines besseren Austauschs zwischen weiblichen Ökonomen und der Etablierung eines feministischen Blickwinkels in der Wirtschaftswissenschaft.
Hintergrund
Die Anregung zur Gründung der IAFFE wurde 1990 auf dem jährlichen Kongress der American Economic Association angestossen, als das Seminar unter dem Titel „Can Feminism Find a Home in Economics?“ regen Zulauf fand. Nach zweijährigen Konsultationen und Überlegungen gründete sich 1992 die Organisation formal. 1997 erhielt die NGO Konsultationsstatus beim Wirtschafts- und Sozialrat der Vereinten Nationen.
Die von einem achtköpfigen Präsidium und einem neunköpfigen Direktorium geleitete IAFFE vertritt zirka 600 Mitglieder in 43 Ländern. Neben Wirtschaftswissenschaftlern sind auch Wissenschaftler anderer Fachrichtungen sowie in Ausbildung befindliche Personen Mitglied. Das Erreichen der Ziele des Austauschs und der Etablierung des feministischen Blickwinkels in der Ökonomie verfolgt die NGO mit regelmäßigen Veranstaltungen und der Herausgabe des Wissenschaftsmagazins Feminist Economics. Zudem gibt es Workshops sowie die Einrichtung einer Infrastruktur zum Arbeitspapier- und Unterlagenaustausch.
