Der zur Zeit der Gründung vierte Siemens-Sektor Infrastructure & Cities (IC) hat seine Arbeit am 1. Oktober 2011 aufgenommen. Seither gliedert sich das operative Geschäft von Siemens in die Sektoren Infrastructure & Cities, Industry, Energy und Healthcare.

IC hat folgende Divisionen

  • Rail Systems
  • Mobility and Logistics: Bahnautomatisierung, Infrastrukturlogistik, intelligente Verkehrs- und Transportsysteme, Elektromobilitätsinfrastruktur.
  • Smart Grid: intelligente Stromnetzinfrastruktur Bahnelektrifizierung Stromversorgung der Industrie, Infrastruktur und Städte

Der neue Sektor Infrastructure & Cities wird von München aus das weltweite Geschäft mit Städten und Infrastrukturen steuern. Darin bündelt Siemens Kompetenzen, um Städten Lösungen für Mobilität, Umweltschutz und Energieeinsparung zu bieten. Im neuen Sektor mit rund 87.000 Mitarbeitern werden die Divisionen Mobility und Building Technologies aus dem Industry-Sektor sowie die Division Power Distribution und das Smart-Grid-Geschäft aus dem Energy-Sektor zusammengeführt.
