Der Begriff low income country bzw. Land mit geringem Einkommen bezeichnet einen von der Weltbank definierten ökonomischen Status.

Dazu gehören diejenigen Länder, deren Bruttonationaleinkommen pro Kopf und Jahr geringer als 1500$ ist. [1] Beispiele sind unter anderem (Stand 2011) Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Gambia, Haiti, Nepal, Nordkorea, Tadschikistan.[2]

Weiter wird klassifiziert in Lower Middle Income (1006$ - 3975$), Upper Middle Income (3976$ - 12.275$) und High Income (12.276$ und mehr).
