Chegutu

Chegutu, auch Cheguto, früher Hartley, New Hartley, ist eine Stadt mit 35.000 Einwohnern (2006) in Westmaschonaland 110 km südöstlich von Harare in Simbabwe an Fernstraße und Eisenbahnlinie Harare-Bulawayo.

Chegutu liegt in einer ausgesprochen ländlichen Gegend mit viel Subsistenzwirtschaft, hat zwei Grundschulen, kein Krankenhaus, etwas Textilgewerbe. Neuerdings wird bei Chegutu Kalk abgebaut und zu ungelöschtem Kalk als Alternative zu Zement aber auch als Dünger verarbeitet.
