This American Life

This American Life (TAL) ist eine einstündige, wöchentlich übertragene Hörfunksendung, die vom US-amerikanischen Chicago Public Radio produziert wird und weltweit als Podcast erhältlich ist. Im Mittelpunkt der von Ira Glass moderierten Sendung stehen Reportagen, die sich immer einem spezifischen Thema widmen und teilweise durch Essays oder Kurzgeschichten ergänzt werden. TAL wurde das erste Mal am 17. November 1995 gesendet, damals noch unter dem Titel Your Radio Playhouse.

Die Beiträge von This American Life wurden mit einer Reihe von Preisen ausgezeichnet, darunter der Peabody Award, der George Polk Award und Preisen des Chicagoer Third Coast International Audio Festivals. Die Sendung erreicht jede Woche etwa 1,8 Millionen Hörer und wird eine halbe Million mal als Podcast heruntergeladen.
