Consumer Products Safety and Quality

Das Europäisches Büro für chemische Stoffe (ECB, engl. European Chemicals Bureau) befindet sich in Ispra in Italien. Es befindet sich unter der Zuständigkeit des Instituts für Gesundheit und Verbraucherschutz (IHCP) der Gemeinsamen Forschungsstelle (GFS) der Europäischen Kommission.

Zuständigkeitsbereiche

Das ECB ist die Koordinationsstelle für die Daten und Risikobewertungsabläufe von gefährlichen Chemikalien. Es stellt wissenschaftlichen und technischen Support für die Konzeption, Entwicklung, Einführung und die Überwachung von EU-Richtlinien zu gefährlichen Chemikalien zur Verfügung. Das Amt koordiniert die EU-Risk-Assessment-Programme, welche die Risiken von existierenden und neuen Substanzen für Arbeiter, Konsumenten und die Umwelt beurteilen. Es unterstützt auch die rechtliche Klassierung und Kennzeichnung, die Notifizierung von neuen Substanzen, den Informationsaustausch über den Import und Export von gefährlichen Substanzen, die Entwicklung und Harmonisierung von Testmethoden und die Autorisierung von Bioziden.
