Das Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement (COSTAR), gebaut von Ball Aerospace, wurde 1993 durch die Besatzung von STS-61 in das Hubble-Weltraumteleskop (HST) eingebaut. COSTAR ist kein eigentliches wissenschaftliches Instrument, sondern ein optisches Gerät zur Korrektur des Bildfehlers des Teleskops für die Instrumente des HST. COSTAR wurde anstelle des High Speed Photometer (HSP) in der axialen Position hinter dem Primärspiegel des Teleskops eingebaut und korrigierte dessen sphärische Aberration.

Die nach COSTAR eingebauten Instrumente verfügen über eigene Korrekturglieder, so dass die Korrektur nach und nach unnötig wurde. Im Rahmen der fünften Reparaturmission zu Hubble STS-125 wurde das Gerät ausgebaut und zur Erde zurückgebracht. Es ist seither im National Air and Space Museum des Smithsonian Institute ausgestellt.
