Democracy International ist eine internationale Organisation für direkte Demokratie.
Geschichte
Democracy International wurde am 19. Februar 2005 in Brüssel gegründet. Vorläufer war die informelle Zusammenarbeit von Bürgerrechtsinitiativen im „Network of Direct Democracy Initiatives in Europe“ (NDDIE). Dieses Bündnis veranstaltete drei Konferenzen (München 2000, Prag 2001, Bratislava 2002) zur Vernetzung der Aktiven aus verschiedenen Ländern.
