Duty cycle

Der Tastgrad (auch Aussteuergrad oder engl.: duty cycle) gibt für ein Rechtecksignal das Verhältnis der Länge des eingeschalteten Zustands (Impulsdauer) zur Periodendauer an. Der Tastgrad wird als dimensionslose Verhältniszahl mit einem Betrag von 0 bis 1, oder in Prozent von 0 % bis 100 %, angegeben.

Das Tastverhältnis wird nicht einheitlich definiert, es kann sowohl identisch mit dem Tastgrad[1] als auch dessen Kehrwert[2] sein, oder auch das Verhältnis zwischen Impuls- und Pausendauer angeben.

In der Abbildung ist die Periodendauer mit T und die Dauer des eingeschalteten Zustands mit t bezeichnet. Es ergibt sich der Tastgrad t / T = 0,5 (oder 50 %) und damit ein symmetrisches Signal.

So sieht eine Pulsweitenmodulation mit einem Tastverhältnis von etwa 20 % aus.
