Als Afro-Lateinamerikaner wird im nordamerikanischen Sprachraum ein Lateinamerikaner mit afrikanischen Vorfahren bezeichnet. In Lateinamerika jedoch wird die Bezeichnung 'afro' in der Regel nur in Verbindung mit Kultur und nicht in Verbindung mit Personen verwendet. (z. B.afro-brasilianische Religion, etc.)
