Earl of Dundonald ist ein erblicher britischer Adelstitel in der Peerage of Scotland, der von der Familie Cochrane getragen wird. Er ist nach der Ortschaft Dundonald in South Ayrshire, Schottland benannt.

Stammsitze der Familie sind Lochnell Castle bei Oban, Argyll and Bute und Beacon Hall bei Cranbrook, Kent, England.

Der Titel wurde im Jahre 1669 an den verdienten Militär Sir William Cochrane verliehen.

Nachgeordnete Titel

Nachgeordnete Titel des Earl of Dundonald sind Lord Cochrane of Dundonald (geschaffen 1647) und Lord Cochrane of Paisley and Ochiltree (geschaffen 1669). Diese Titel, die ebenfalls zur Peerage of Scotland gehören, sind Baronien in den anderen britischen Peerages vergleichbar.

Weiterer Titel

Der zehnte Earl, ein bekannter Marineoffizier, der auch in mehreren Freiheitskriegen gegen Kolonialmächte kämpfte, wurde 1823 von Kaiser Dom Pedro I. von Brasilien zum Marquis von Maranhao erhoben.
