Ain Soph

Ain Soph (אין סוף) ist in der kabbalistischen Mystik das undefinierbare und unbestimmte Urlicht, aus dessen Zusammenziehung und Expansion (Zimzum) die Schöpfung entstanden sein soll.

Im kabbalistischen Lebensbaum wird Ain Soph über der Sephira Kether dargestellt, wobei bei einigen Darstellungen Ain Soph dreigeteilt dargestellt wird, als Ain, Ain Soph und Ain Soph Aur. In dieser Dreiteilung wird das Ain als Nichts verstanden, das Ain Soph als rotierendes Nichts und das Ain Soph Aur als erleuchtendes Nichts.

Manche Kabbalisten setzen Ain Soph auch mit Gott gleich, dem absoluten, nur durch sich selbst bedingten, aber alles bedingenden, unbegreiflichen Urgrund der Schöpfung.
