Ervin Nyíregyházi (* 19. Januar 1903 in Budapest; † 13. April 1987 in Los Angeles) war ein amerikanischer Pianist ungarischer Herkunft.

Leben

Der Pianist galt seinerzeit als „zweiter Liszt“, und seine Anfänge als „Wunderkind“ hatten immer wieder Vergleiche mit Mozart hervorgerufen. Bereits mit acht Jahren spielte er im Buckingham Palace. Im Alter von 12 Jahren gab er ein Konzert mit den Berliner Philharmonikern. Mit 17 hatte er sein sensationelles Debüt in New York.

1928 siedelte Nyíregyházi nach Los Angeles um, wo er mit vielen Hollywood-Größen befreundet war. In den 70er Jahren erfuhr seine Karriere eine sensationelle, aber kurze Wiederbelebung.
