Exposure

Das englische Wort exposure (dtsch. Ausgesetztsein) ist - im deutschsprachigen Kontext benutzt - ein in der Finanzwirtschaft gebräuchlicher Begriff zur Beschreibung eines Engagements, d.h. des Risikos, bzw. der Chancen eines Kursverlusts oder -gewinns.

So beschreibt z. B. market exposure eines Aktienportfolios die Proportion, zu dem dieses Portfolio in einem bestimmten Markt oder einer Branche investiert ist. Das Portfolio ist somit den Schwankungen dieses Marktes ausgesetzt und kann an dessen Kursverlusten bzw. -gewinnen teilnehmen.

Exposure kann sich auf Wechselkursrisiken, Risiken aus der allgemeinen wirtschaftlichen Lage oder Transaktionsrisiken beziehen. Typischerweise werden vier Exposurekategorien zur Risikomessung genutzt:

  • Market exposure oder Aktienexposure: Wertänderungsrisiko von Aktienportfolios
  • Credit Spread exposure: Wertänderungsrisiko von Anleiheportfolios infolge Bonitätsverschlechterungen
  • Zinsexposure:Wertänderungsrisiko von Anleiheportfolios infolge genereller Zinsänderungen
  • Währungsexposure: Wertänderungsrisiko infolge von Wechselkursänderungen
