Die Baureihe E636 ist eine italienische Elektrolokomotiv-Baureihe.

Geschichte

Zwischen 1940 und 1962 wurden insgesamt 469 Exemplare der Baureihe E636 beschafft. Diese Baureihe war für den Personen- und Güterzugdienst konzipiert. Die Bauart mit zweigeteiltem Lokkasten und Achsfolge Bo`Bo`Bo` bewährte sich so gut, dass diese Achsanordnung bei der italienischen Staatsbahn als Standard festgelegt wurde. Mit Ausnahme der E.444 war der gesamte Fuhrpark an elektromechanischen Loks der italienischen Staatsbahnen auf das Grundschema der E.636 aufgebaut. Die letzte Nachfolgerin war die Baureihe E.656, die bis 1989 ausgeliefert wurde.
