Ferredoxin ist ein eisen- und schwefelhaltiges Protein (Eisen-Schwefel-Protein), das in Grünpflanzen, Algen und anaeroben Bakterien vorkommt. Ferredoxin hat eine Molare Masse von 11 kDa, ist löslich und besitzt ein [2Fe-2S]-Zentrum.
Ferredoxin spielt eine Schlüsselrolle in der Photosynthese. Es fungiert hier als Elektronenüberträger.
