Solch ein Selbstfahrer-Stromaggregat sorgt für ausreichende Energieversorgung am Set, wo entweder keine Stromversorgung vorhanden (Wald etc.) oder die vorhandene Stromversorgung nicht ausreichend ist (an ein normales Hausnetz lassen sich kaum eine oder mehrere HMI-Lampen anschließen).
Das Leistungsspektrum dieser Aggregate liegt gewöhnlich im Bereich von 60 bis 150 kW.
