Ghettotech

Ghetto Tech (auch Techno Bass) ist eine Mischung aus Hip Hop, Techno, House, Miami Bass, Drum and Bass, die Anfang der 1990er Jahre in der US-Metropole Detroit entstand. Die Stilrichtung zeichnet sich durch schnelle, elektronische Beats (140-170 bpm), häufige Synthesizer-Riffs und stark betonte Subbässe aus. Unverkennbar ist der Einfluss des US-Electro Funk der frühen 1980er Jahre. In den Anfangstagen sind noch klar Miami-Bass-Einflüsse erkennbar während in neueren Ghetto-Tech-Tracks mehr und mehr Einflüsse aus Drum and Bass und Techno vorzufinden sind.

Das Rappen oder auch MCing ist in diesem Stil zwar vorhanden, tritt aber teilweise in den Hintergrund hinter den elektronischen Sounds. Die Texte haben oft explizite sexuelle, fast pornographische Themen.

Djs, die diesen Sound auflegen orientieren sich meist vom Auflegestil her an Hip-Hop-Djs (Turntablism). Bekannte DJs sind DJ Assault, DJ Godfather oder in Deutschland Nessbeth.

Verwandt ist Ghetto Tech mit der Stilrichtung Miami Bass, aber auch mit dem brasilianischen Rio Funk. Als Überbegriff für diese Stile wird Bass Music oder auch einfach Bass verwendet.
