Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie

Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie aus Bathgate in der Nähe von Edinburgh war in den ausgehenden 80er Jahren eine der einflussreichsten schottischen Post-Punk-Bands. Die Band wurde gegründet von Sänger Ewan Drysdale, Martin Metcalfe an der Gitarre, Jamie Waterson an der Bassgitarre, John Duncan (ehemals The Exploited) an der Gitarre, Derek Kelly am Schlagzeug und Shirley Manson an den Keyboards. Ende der 80er Jahre unterschrieb die Band einen Major-Deal bei der Plattenfirma Capitol Records. Nach ihrem Debütalbum "Good Deeds & Dirty Rags", das in Großbritannien immerhin Platz 26 erreichte und in der Szene weithin gefeiert wurde, wollte Capitol Records das zweite Album "Hammer & Tongs" plötzlich nicht mehr herausbringen. Die Band wechselte daraufhin kurzerhand zu Radioactive Records, einem kleinen Independantlabel.

Wilson, Kelly, Metcalfe und Manson gründeten 1993 die Band "Angelfish" um ihren Plattenvertrag mit Radioactive Records erfüllen zu können. Shirley Manson verließ daraufhin die Band zugunsten von Garbage; Metcalfe, Kelly und Wilson spielten in den 90ern weiter unter den Namen The Filthy Tongues und Fishhead.
