Ground tying

Ground tying – zu deutsch etwa am Boden festbinden – ist ein Begriff aus dem Westernreiten, der besagt, dass ein Pferd mit auf den Boden hängenden Zügeln wie festgebunden stehenbleibt.

Wie die Disziplinen des Westernreitens geht auch das Ground tying auf die Notwendigkeiten des Cowboylebens zurück. Oftmals musste der Reiter absteigen und sich um anderes als sein Pferd kümmern, ohne dass eine Gelegenheit vorhanden war, das Pferd anzubinden. Daher wird Pferden von Cowboys beigebracht, am Fleck stehenzubleiben, sobald und solange die Zügel auf den Boden hängen.
