Fünf Schiffe der britischen Marine trugen den Namen HMS Essex, nach der britischen Grafschaft Essex.

  • Die zweite HMS Essex (1679) war ein Linienschiff dritter Klasse mit 70 Kanonen, das 1679 gebaut und 1700 erneuert wurde und 1759 während der Seeschlacht in der Quiberon-Bucht durch Strandung verloren ging.
  • Die dritte HMS Essex (1760) war ein Linienschiff dritter Klasse mit 64 Kanonen, das 1760 vom Stapel lief und 1799 verkauft wurde.
  • Die vierte HMS Essex war die amerikanische Fregatte USS Essex (1799), die nach ihrer Eroberung 1814 in die Royal Navy übernommen 1837 zum Abwracken verkauft wurde.
  • Die fünfte HMS Essex (1901) war ein Panzerkreuzer, der 1901 vom Stapel lief und 1921 zum Abwracken verkauft wurde.
