Allied Military Intelligence Battalion

Das Allied Military Intelligence Battalion, kurz AMIB, gilt als ein wenig bekanntes, multinationales Bataillon des westlichen Militärbündnisses NATO. Es ist Teil der 650th Military Intelligence Group des Militärgeheimdienstes der US Army. Seine Personalstärke wird auf 60 Spezialisten aus 7 NATO-Mitgliedstaaten geschätzt. Es ist an Frontoperationen und Verhören beteiligt. [1]

Erwähnt wird dieser hochgeheime Dienst in einem Interview des Fernsehmagazins Kontraste mit dem Zeitsoldaten Jürgen Russ, der im Jahre 2001 in Sarajevo stationiert war und zuständig für Personalangelegenheiten war: „AMIB sollte aus allen NATO-Bündnisstaaten Personal bekommen, so habe ich es kennen gelernt, es trat nicht weiter in Erscheinung. Wie gesagt, es war absolute Geheimhaltung um dieses Bataillon.“
