Indicazione Geografica Tipica, abgekürzt IGT, ist eine neue Stufe des Landweins, der als italienische Version des erfolgreichen französischen Vin de Pays gedacht ist. Die Qualitätsstufe wurde durch Gesetz 164 am 10. Februar 1992 eingeführt. Die Weine können eine geographische Bezeichnung auf dem Etikett kombiniert mit einer Rebsortenart tragen.
Bei den Qualitätsstufen stehen diese Weine über dem einfachen Tafelwein (vino da tavola) und unter den Denominazione di origine controllata (DOC)-Weinen.
Teilweise werden auch qualitativ hochwertige Weine als IGT-Weine verkauft, wenn diese Rebsorten enthalten, die nach den lokalen DOC-Vorschriften nicht enthalten sein dürfen.
Im französischsprachigen Teil des Aostatals darf die Bezeichnung IGT durch den französischen Begriff Vin de pays, im deutschsprachigen Teil Südtirols durch den Landwein substituiert werden [1].
