Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung an der Universität Wien

Das Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung ist ein geschichtswissenschaftliches Forschungsinstitut in Wien. Es wurde 1854 gegründet. Es ist an der Universität Wien angesiedelt, untersteht aber direkt dem Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur.

Neben seiner Forschungstätigkeit bietet das Institut ein Masterstudium mit Schwerpunkt auf den historischen Hilfswissenschaften und der Archivwissenschaft an.

Das Institut gibt unter anderem die renommierte Zeitschrift Mitteilungen des Instituts für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung (MIÖG) heraus.

Von 1920 bis 1945 hieß das Institut Österreichisches Institut für Geschichtsforschung.
